This past summer Imagine Dragons went on their biggest world tour to date, Smoke + MirrorsTour, in support of their sophomore album and personally my favorite. The world tour saw Imagine Dragons performing hit singles such as “Demons,” “I Bet My Life,” “Radioactive,” and a personal favorite song of mine with an incredible light show “Friction” among 19-20 others throughout 108 shows around the world.
With the success of their tour, the many withdrawals their fans would have, me included, Imagine Dragons are hitting the cinema screens for one night only to re-live the experience of Smoke + Mirrors Tour. The live concert film took place during their Toronto, Canada stop of the tour with 15,000 fans in attendance. That’s a huge upgrade from the days when Dan Reynolds would perform new songs for his family via Youtube during down time of his mission trips.
The live concert film, directed by Dick Carruthers, gives fans an up close and personal experience of the bands entire set in 4k and Dolby Atmos bringing the clearest audio and visuals possible. I had the pleasure of screening the film and was more than happy with its final result. The cinematography was seriously breathtaking, far from the cliche live concert films. I’ve always known Wayne Sermon was an insane guitarist but i never realized how fast his fingers were until watching his guitar solos up close through the film.
The live concert film will hit select theaters Wednesday, March 2. Get your tickets and live or re-live the experience of one of my favorite live bands, Imagine Dragons.
